I can't
find my downloaded file - where is it?
Upon clicking the download link provided after purchase, your browser will
ask you where on your hard drive you want to save the file. The default location
is in the "My Documents" folder (although you should check to make
sure it has not been changed, and make a note of the location where the file
will be downloaded to). If you still can't find the file, it may be because
you do not have "WinZip" on your computer. Once you install WinZip,
you should be able to see your file in the folder it was downloaded to. For
more information about WinZip, see the FAQ directly below this one.
How do
I open this ".zip" file?
In order to minimize download times, Presentation Cafe compresses its templates
and backgrounds using the WinZip format. You can get a free evaluation version
of WinZip by going to www.winzip.com and then clicking on the "downloads"
link and choosing the "evaluation version" of the software. For
step-by-step instructions for using WinZip to uncompress our template and
background files, click

Using the Templates & Backgrounds
How do
I apply a template to an existing presentation?
To apply a template to an existing PowerPoint presentation, do the following:
1) Open your existing presentation in PowerPoint
2) Choose "Format>Apply Design Template" from the top Toolbar
3) A window will open up, and show you a number of different design templates
you can apply. Note that Microsoft is pulling these templates from the folder
mentioned above (C:/program files/microsoft office/templates), so if you did
not download your templates to this folder, you won’t see them listed
here. If you did download them someplace else (like your Desktop), use the
folder icon above the list to navigate to the folder where you downloaded
and filed your template(s).
4) Highlight the template you want to use, (you should see a thumbnail image of it to the right).
5) Click "Apply". This will apply the new template to your existing
presentation, changing all of the color schemes throughout.
That's all there is to it! If you'd like to see these steps peformed in a
short tutorial, click here.
How
do I apply a template to a new presentation?
To apply a template to a new PowerPoint presentation, do the following:
1) With PowerPoint open, choose "File>New" from the top Toolbar.
2) Choose "Blank Presentation" from the list of choices given.
3) Choose the first box highlighted (this is a title slide).
4) Once the new blank presentation is open, choose "Format>Apply Design Template" from the top Toolbar.
5) A window will open up, and show you a number of different design templates you can apply. If you don't see the template name listed, use the folder icon above the list to navigate to the folder where you filed the PowerPoint template you want to use.
6) Highlight the template you want to use, (you should see a thumbnail image of it to the right).
7) Click "Apply" and all new slides you add will use the formatting
associated with that template.
How
do I print handouts?
For the purpose of making handouts, you may want to use a template that does
not include as many graphics, with most of the page being a white background.
To make this easier, all of our templates include a separate background image
for printing that matches the original presentation templates.
To create a presentation with a Print Slide Background, do the following:
1) Open your existing presentation in PowerPoint.
2) Choose "File>Save As" from the top Toolbar and save the presentation as another file (e.g., Presentation_Print_Version).
3) In the new print version, choose "Format>Background" from the top Toolbar.
4) A “background fill” box will pop-up, showing a little picture of a graph. Below that little picture is a pull-down field. Click the pull-down arrow and select “Fill Effects”.
5) A “Fill Effects” box will pop-up with a series of tabs at the top. Click on the “Picture” tab at the top.
6) Click the “Select Picture” button and then navigate to where you downloaded the templates. When you find the template folder you want, choose the JPEG image and click the “Insert” button.
7) You will now see your picture within the “Picture” window of the Fill Effects box. To accept the image, click “OK” and you will be returned to the small “Background” box.
8) Finally, check the “Omit background graphics from master” at the bottom of the box and then click “Apply to all.”
Now, your entire presentation will be against a mostly white background,
and you can alter the placement of text, graphs or images as you see fit.
